Developing excellence in a Chlorine plant

Developing and achieving true excellence is a process - not a project.
Zhimble started its involvement with the "Membrane Electrolisys" chlorine plant (MEB) of AkzoNobel in Delfzijl in 2005. Here the foundations were created for a truly excellent organization, but it turns out that only foundations do not make a complete building. After a number of years, the organization was ready to move to the next steps towards a pro-active level of performance, and start working on improving the level of teamwork across the whole organization. Key item is now: Having grip on the total operating chain.
This is supported by 2 pillars: Improvements in the structure and simple cultural and behavioral changes.
Everyone is aware of the fact that both are equal important. Every employee contributed with ideas and plans to create the ambitions. We just entered the phase of implementing them.
Key drives towards a successful implementation are: leadership, clear management of expectations and feedback.
As always: It simple but not easy. So we spent a good amount of time involve everyone and create ownership of the project. The result is motivated people who take responsibility for their part of the success.
The holidays are over. We are all eager to take the next step!
